Out of the Blue

Glenn - guitar, vocals, bass guitar
Ajala - vocals, flute, sax, percussion Rosie -
vocals, flute, percussion Peter - guitar, harmonica,
vocals Mark - sound guy, roadie and 'really helpful
guy'
Out of the Blue evolved from casual
playing sessions, when acoustic guitars, songbooks
and voices came together at parties just for the fun
of playing music. They thought others would also
enjoy what they played so they decided to get a band
together, select some well-known music and began
performing. Some original songs co-written by Ajala
were also introduced to the repertoire and are very
popular. In early 2007, they began rehearsing
acoustically around a dining table, but soon
electrified their music, a necessity for gigs. They
now have a professional setup for performing, though
still keeping a relaxed acoustic feel. Over the past
eighteen months, Out of the Blue have played at
local clubs and venues, Brackets and Jam North and
South, and have also performed at private functions
such as birthday parties, anniversaries and
weddings, and even a 6 year old birthday party. They
have played at local school and church fetes and
participated in a local World Youth Day event in
2008. They have recently been involved with some
local charity concerts, helping raise much-needed
money for special organisations and donating their
time, often raffling or auctioning off free
performances as prizes. Some of these charities
include Violence Against Women causes (eg. White
Ribbon Day), The National Stroke Foundation, Cancer
Relay for Life, and bushfire concerts held in early
2009. Around September 2008, Out of the Blue
really kicked off their live performances when they
first appeared at the local 'Ourimbah Sessions' open
mic night at Ourimbah-Lisarow RSL. They have been
extremely well received there, and were chosen as
one of ten lucky acts to feature on the first live
'Ourimbah Sessions' recorded CD launched March
2009.Recently Out of the Blue featured in the
'Alive' entertainment section of the Central Coast
Express Advocate, which they found exciting and
important in gaining exposure locally.Mark Burt,
band assistant, helps the band with many varied
duties, including sound engineering, roadie,
promoter and mate and, best of all, a terrific
motivator for the group as a whole.Out of the Blue
members have many hours of live music experience
from previous bands and each draw on their own
unique talents, coming together to perform music
they enjoy and know others will enjoy too. There are
no pre-recorded or computerised backing tracks, just
four musicians performing popular songs, with two
acoustic guitars, some light percussion, flutes and
up to four voices in harmony.

Buck and Deanne

Deanne Dale learned to play a guitar made out of matchsticks by
her German father. She was in Ireland busking the day the Berlin wall came down
& toured Europe for 6 years. Then she met Paul Buckberry AKA Buck. Part
hoodoo man, part truck driver, Buck lived by busking old blues tunes &
selling CDs that he claimed were hallucinogenic & more mind liberating than
sex. Together they began touring Australia, playing festivals between Cook Town
& Wonthaggi. Buck & Deanne play guitars & kazoos. They sing about
the facts of life & electric chairs. It's steamy blues & swinging
country waltzes. Like a 57 Chevy with Carl Perkins, Bob Dylan, Johnny &
June, & a crackly AM radio, their music cruises at a cool pace with no rear
view mirror
